Never Stop Growing!
This week we learn how to Do The Impossible with Extreme Athlete, Ray Zahab.
“You define yourself by what you do” Ray Zahab is an extreme runner and motivational speaker. He has been active in extreme running adventures in several countries around the world, including challenges that most people would consider impossible. But it wasn’t always that way. As a young adult Ray was smoking a pack of cigarettes per day, living a sedentary life and was basically unhappy. What motivated him to get off the couch and start training by tying a car tire around his waist for resistance while running uphills? What inspired Ray to become a leader in perspectives about what is physically possible? The answer will shock you! “When things aren’t going well, resilience is your ability to stick to it, not give up and see that light at the end of the tunnel. Things WILL get better.”
In 2007 Ray starred in the documentary "Running the Sahara" narrated and produced by Matt Damon. The film follows three men as they run across the Sahara Desert, from Senegal to Egypt, at a pace of more than 50 miles per day for 111 straight days and more than 4,300 miles of challenging terrain. And that was just the start of Ray’s fantastic career to redefining “Impossible”. Ray has also crossed the Gobi Desert, the Patagonian Desert, the Mohave Desert, the Atacama Desert, Lake Baikal in Russia, Baffin Island, Death Valley and the Canadian Arctic.
“A lot of the challenges that we face that are Goal-Based are 90% Mental.” Zahab is the author of the autobiography Running for My Life: On the Extreme Road with Adventure Runner Ray Zahab and co-author with Steve Pitt of Running to Extremes: Ray Zahab's Amazing Ultramarathon Journey “The one thing among leaders that seems to be consistent is that ability to be resilient” Links: Ray Zahab on LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/ray-zahab-974a5429 Ray Zahab on Twitter: @RayZahab https://twitter.com/RayZahab?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor Ray Zahab’s Email: rzahab@impossible2possible.com Ray Zahab’s Website: https://www.rayzahab.com/about/ Impossible2Possible Website: http://www.impossible2possible.com Ray Zahab’s Books: https://www.amazon.ca/Running-My-Life-extreme-adventure/dp/1897178441 Running The Sahara documentary: https://youtu.be/HidKMFClQUU Ubiquity Leadership Coaching: www.UbiquityLeadership.com Next Week’s Show: Startups & Entrepreneurs with Startup Canada’s CEO, Victoria Lennox
